Before forming this company  in  1985, Bill Horan spent much of his early  adult life assisting in  the  management of his family's three-generation sand and gravel operation near Detroit, Michigan. In 2002, Horan became involved in humanitarian relief and served as President of Operation Blessing International, a global humanitarian charity based  in  Virginia  Beach with operations in over 30  countries. Bill retired from OBI in 2018, moved to Texas, and refocused his energy on the machinery business.
